My Professional Journey

I earned my Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine School of Dental Medicine. Since then, I have provided comprehensive dental care to patients of all ages, with an emphasis on building lasting relationships, helping patients feel comfortable, and delivering thoughtful, individualized care.

Throughout my career, I have developed a special passion for understanding oral function and its role in overall health and development. As a dentist and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), I bring together my dental background and lactation knowledge to help families navigate tongue-ties, lip-ties, and related feeding concerns. I understand how overwhelming feeding challenges can be, and I strive to provide compassionate guidance, careful evaluation, and individualized care so that parents feel heard, informed, and supported.

Opening Katherman Tongue Tie Center has allowed me to dedicate my practice to the assessment and treatment of tongue-ties, lip-ties, and other oral restrictions. It also gives me the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with patients, families, and the healthcare professionals who support them.

Education, Leadership, and Professional Recognition

I am honored to be a Fellow of the International College of Dentists (FICD), an organization that recognizes professional achievement and a commitment to service. In 2025, I was also selected as a Pennsylvania Dental Association 10 Under 10 honoree in recognition of my contributions to dentistry, organized dentistry, and my community.

Throughout my career, I have valued opportunities to learn, lead, and support my profession. I served as president of the York County Dental Society in 2024 and remain committed to collaboration, continuing education, and strengthening relationships within the dental community. I am also involved with professional organizations dedicated to dentistry, laser dentistry, breastfeeding, and the understanding of tongue-ties and related oral restrictions.

These experiences have reinforced my belief that excellent care involves more than clinical skill. It requires a commitment to lifelong learning, open communication, integrity, and always striving to do what is best for each patient.

A Heart for Community and Education

Giving back has always been an important part of my life. I believe that helping children develop healthy habits early can make a meaningful difference that lasts a lifetime.

My passion for oral health education began long before I opened my own practice. From high school and college through dental school and into my professional career, I have enjoyed teaching children about brushing, flossing, and caring for their teeth. Through visits to local schools and child development centers, I share hands-on dental lessons, interactive books, and engaging, age-appropriate activities designed to make learning about oral health fun and memorable. I also strive to equip teachers and caregivers with resources they can continue using long after each visit.

My commitment to community service began before I became a dentist. After graduating from Allegheny College, I served as an AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer, helping coordinate community improvement projects and connect volunteers with individuals and families in need. That experience strengthened my belief in the power of service, collaboration, and small acts of kindness to create lasting change.

Today, being able to serve the same community where my own children are growing up makes this work especially meaningful to me.

The Person Behind the Practice

Outside the office, I am a wife and mom to four wonderful girls. My family is my greatest priority, and they continually remind me of the importance of being present, finding balance, and making time for the people who matter most.

Being a mother has deepened my appreciation for the questions, hopes, and worries parents carry when it comes to their children's health and development. I want families who visit Katherman Tongue Tie Center to feel that they are in a place where their concerns matter, their questions are welcome, and their children are cared for with genuine compassion.

My hope is that Katherman Tongue Tie Center feels less like a traditional dental office and more like an extension of my home—a place where every patient and family feels welcomed, valued, and cared for like family.

Ultimately, my purpose is to build a lasting legacy of love, service, and excellence for my family, my patients, and my community. I am grateful for the opportunity to care for the patients I see and to be part of each family's journey toward better oral health and well-being.

Thank you for being here! I look forward to welcoming you to Katherman Tongue Tie Center!
